2/16/2023 0 Comments Dungeons 3 pc game back cover art![]() ![]() They put the role-playing (RP) in the game (G). Modern fantasy books and video games owe a lot to this classic tabletop. But, at the same time, nice to see an attempt (however blatant) at fantasy-world multi-culturalism/diversity.When it comes to role-playing games, fantasy world-building, and character development, we have to give a lot of love to Dungeons & Dragons. :ASIDE: the turban is a very blatant attempt at gleaning interest from PF fans, duplicating Kyra's (PF's iconic cleric) turban/headress/middle-eastern inspired attire. It might prefer just dusting (as in "turning to dust/disintegrating") him. ![]() My money's on getting turned to stone, but one can never really know the mind of a beholder. This guy (or girl?) in the foreground is not say "Hey we've beaten everything!" or "Come on guys, we can take it!" He/she is fleeing in abject terror whilst repeating numerous expletives in a variety of his/her known languages.Ĭlearly, the dwarf missed their reaction roll or something and is totally gonna bite it in the first round. that hand, and I'll agree, it is.weird/not quite right.but it is (to mine eyes) that the torch has been dropped or thrown away whilst attempting to reach maximum velocity in the direction toward the viewer. I'll wait til I have 5E in hand before adjusting the ranks.Įveryone seems to be missing the apparently "dropped" torch in the lower right corner. Nothing against the guy and his work, I just prefer drawings instead of the "faux ancient tome" look. Really liked that one.ĥ) 3E & 3.5E, the Higginbotham covers. If I ranked the cover art alone, I'd say:Ģ) 4E, giant Orcus. So ideally I'd like a double-paged spread showing various adventurers traipsing through a scrolling environment and encountering different beasties one of which must be a Roper who appears to be a moss covered cat turd. Have to admit, the 1E covers are so engrained in my mind that nothing else takes their place in my mind when I think of Dungeons and Dragons hardcovers. Are they emanating from the beholder's eyes? There's a bat flying about up above the statue arm, maybe it's a familiar. As was said, the picture's a bit blurry so more will be revealed. Not sure if that's a female in front, who seems to be wearing some form of turban and yelling "Avengers Assemble" to the rest of the party. He seems to have a nice hammer and appropriate armor. Love the beholder and what I can make of the dwarf underneath it. I like the lack of clutter from the logo and whatnot. ![]()
